The cosmological and earthly existences are dynamic and subtle, full of contradictions that depend on each other for substance, form, and meaning. I try to exemplify through the processes of printmaking this dynamic idea of becoming taking the past into a context of the future, and creating experience. I focus attention on the subtlety of printing to capture the substance and form of this becoming that happens through the processing of the plate. The image becomes an idea that exists beyond time, not being held by the constraints of past, present, or future—freed from the dependency of context and referentiality, in an attempt to distill pure experience.
Experience is the driving force for the living social organism that our human existence has become. Through experience, new inventive ways of thinking and creating are catalyzed. My work is a meditation on the processes of the cosmos and my earthly existence to push myself to continually become more than I am, with the intention of invoking within the viewer a catalyst for new ideas and different ways in which to perceive the world as a push for our existence in the future.
